Gomer Hat gave 5 stars to: Coding Board Game

Gomer Hat reviewed:

Coding Board Game: Rover Control by Coding Board Games
5.0 out of 5 stars The challenge that keeps on challenging., November 9, 2017
This is the second of games in the //Code programing game series. Having played with the On The Brink game I was familial with what to expect as far as instructions go and had a better understanding of what the game was trying to get me to accomplish. I also knew that reading the instruction first was going to make a whole lot of difference. The videos online are a good help but in my opinion you should read the instruction first then try it out and if you still have questions then watch the videos.

I love the concept behind this game. The beginner level is a good start and working through them one to master them in order is very fun. They seem to build on each other so stretches your mind and slowly brings up your level of understanding. Just to keep things from becoming frustrating they have included a solutions manual which I have found beneficial not because it gives me the answer but because it helps me see where I have gone wrong and allows me to better teach and understand the steps I need to take. I have not made it to the advanced or expert levels yet but look forward to getting there.

Another characteristic of this game that I love is that although it is teaching about programming it is played completely screen free and has a fairly minimalistic approach as far as supplies and pieces.

From packaging to play I have no issues with it so I rate this game a 5 out of 5 stars.

Coding Board Game: Robot Repair

I love the //Code programing game series. This is the third of 3 in the set and it is just as well done as the others.

Much like the others in the set once you read the instructions and walk through the example it starts to make sense and off you go. Start at the beginning and work your way through each one in order. They build on each other and far as thought process goes so skipping around will be more challenging if you don’t have the understanding from the previous ones.  This game is great for those wanting to learn Boolean logic with single or collaborative game play.

This set has more pieces than the other sets but the box is set up so that it keeps them organizes with the pieces in the bottom trays and the books and game boards on top. The boxes in the set are very nice looking and look very impressive when all put on a shelf together.

I can’t say enough about this great programming game. 5 out of 5 stars or another great product from ThinkTime.

Coding Board Game: On The Brink

On the Brink is a fascinating and mind challenging game.  It is the first in the series of 3 so this is my first expereince with //CODE programing games. At fist I opened up the box and saw how minimal it was compared to what I originally expected. After starting to read the first 3 paragraphs in the book and being referred to a video on the Web decided to give it a try.  This was both good and bad. The video was good to help me understand how the boards worked and how to lay out the cards but it was bad because it looked easy and I wanted to give it a try. The video showed how to do challenge #1 which made sense mostly so I decided to go ahead to challenge #24 which is the first of the advanced challenges. I was now confused how to get my robot to move the way I wanted it to so back to the book I went. After reading though the instruction manual it all made sense…imagine that.

The instruction booklet is invaluable and laid out well. ALL the parts that were confusing me before reading it is included and I had NO QUESTIONS after reading it. Things like-the program consists of both cards on the colored panel, or you have not won unless you complete the programed movement and landed on the finish square or you only start a new programed move AFTER the robot has stopped movement on the square THEN that square tells you which program to use next.

This will be fun for both me and my kids to try out all the challenges. The concept is very basic but stretches your mind as you progress though the challenges. I love that programing is being taught through a game that is not on the computer. Although it is good for kids to know how to use a computer they also need to know problem solving skills both independently but also as a team if they are working on this with others. It creates an atmosphere where they will have to discuss what they think the right movements are and explain themselves in a way that others can understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very durable, November 6, 2017
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are great cables. I love that they are braded cables that seem to be very durable and don’t kink lik the thinner more rubbery feeling one you get woth your device. Between the kinking and splitting of the the rubber jacket and the tips breaking a wire the OEM cables have not been very reliable. This set is a great replacement. I got the set of 3 that are 6 feet long so they reach where others wouldn’t. for instance, these are more than long enoguh to reach the computer that sits under out desk without having to stretch or starin the cable. I also can use one by my side of the bed and give the other to my wife to use. I did have one of these on our kithcen counter but with the long length it got in the way tomuch so a shorter one was put there.

I have had no issue whatsoever with these. I would buy more to put around the housebut the wife doesn’t want a cable hanging around every plug we have. Oh well. I don’t forsee having to buy replaements for these but if the need arises Agvee offers a 1-year warranty-free product guarantee to replace the defective cables meaning they take full ownership and responsibility.

5 out of 5 stars.
