Safer Slicer Watermelon Slicer and Server | Your New Favorite Watermelon Cutter, Melon Slicer and Melon Cutter | Stainless Steel Watermelon Slicer Tongs

This product is something that I really looked forward to using. not only does it slice quickly and easily but it make the presentation really nice as well once you get the hang of it. At first I was not pushing against the rind ans I carved down so a bunch of the fruit was still left over. On my second try with the other half It worked a lot better.
One thing I want to point out is that it is not called a knife. It has no sharp edges. All my kids (ages 6-10) wanted to use it and I have no problem letting them. Infact they are the ones that cleaned out the rinds so well. The tongs on the slicer are very nice to pull the pieces out. The only thing was that I felt like I needed to slice with a regular knife down the length so that each piece was a quarter size.
The packaging that it came in along with the shipping box were great. I also loved the simple directions that the slicer came with as well including step 4 "Compost the watermelon rind."
I have already told coworkers and family about this and they are interested in giving it a try. I definitely cut down on the amount of work and the uniformity and presentation of the fruit. The two hardest parts was waiting for this to arrive in the mail and slicing the watermelon in half.

Wrenwane Digital Meat Thermometer, Instant Read, White

This Wrenwane Digital Meat Thermometer worked alright for my intended purposes. I had been looking to one I could use with my grill and crock pot. Because of the long 6 or 7 inch probe it can reach into a crockpot (depending on size of meat and keeps your hand further away from the flames on a grill. The title says "instant but I did not find that to be the case. At room temperature or outside temperature (lower on the scale) it seemed to read fairly quickly but when I tested it to see how hot my grill was or try it on my hamburgers I had to wait up to a minute or two for it to slowly work its way up. In my experience this quits reading around 488+ degrees. Over all I am happy with this product. The design is nice and the numbers are big and easy to read. The included battery is easy to access and change and I really appreciated the white probe tip cap that come on it. Last but not least it has a loop on the end of it so that it can be hung.

If You Were Me and Lived in...Ancient Greece (An Introduction to Civilizations Throughout Time) (Volume 1)

This book came unexpectedly with another book in the series about Colonial America. My kids attention was held from beginning to end even though these are not the type of books they normally read. The reading level seems to be for 4th-6th graders to read on their own but would most likely also hold the attention of younger kids as well. There is a great balance in the flow of the book of using history and educational facts in a way that in intriguing to the reader. Don't be turned off by the illustrations. They may seem basic compared to other book because that is the nature of watercolor looking pictures. These simpler pictures support the content without being distracting like other books might do but still add to the content and allow for discussion. This book also has a glossary in the back support the content of the book and allows kids to learn and remember the new words and names that they learned about. I can see my kids going back to these book as the topic comes up in school.

If You Were Me and Lived in...Colonial America (An Introduction to Civilizations Throughout Time) (Volume 4)

This book is awesome!!! My kids are avid readers but this is not what they normally read. When I asked them about it they said that is was a history book but a story at the same time and loved reading this book. The pictures are great to look at. They are mostly basic drawn picture drawn on a computer but still portray the message. The reading level was fairly easy for a 4th-6th grader. The really nice thing about these book is that the "educational" words are explained in the test as part of the story as well as in a glossary in the back of the book. These are soft covered books so they won't take up too much room on your shelves so you can get the whole series and fill your minds with great facts and knowledge. The best part of these books is that it is not so much a story as much as it is a guided tour of the reader walking though the life of the colonial American.
