*It is fairly simple and straightforward to set up and play with once you understand how the pieces lock together. It gives kids the opportunity to be creative. My hope was that this could be used in my kids' city adventure play where they set up cities and drive their cars around pretending to run errand and do different task including getting traffic violations :)
*The tracks look pretty standard so more length possible could be added from other track of this type you may already have.
*The cars are really cool! With a few AAA batteries it will drive on its own with flashing lights at the touch of a button on the top.
*There are cogs and grips to help it go around the loops on its own without falling off the track.
After testing this myself I am concerned that they will not like it as much as I hoped it would be a good addition to the many other things they are using for this kind of play. My reason for giving this only a 3 star rating are as follows:
*The loops on the track and the bases that go with them are flimsy. The loops themselves are also flimsy and break if you try to separate them. I only set up one loop and 2 out of 5 now have a broken tab on them. I was trying to be careful in separating them but unfortunately kids in general probably won't be as careful as I was. If the intention is to set it up once and leave it then the broken tabs would not be an issue but in our case we do not have a dedicated play room and take things apart and put them away when they are not being played with.
*The bases won't stay planted on the ground and move as the car go around the loop. I think this would be even more of a problem on regular carpet instead of the concrete floor with a thin rug like the way I had them.
*The cars are cool and exciting but with full batteries they skip off the track especially at turns. That will be very frustration for my kids. If I use half-dead batteries the power is lower for the car and they seem to stay on the track better but can't make it around the loops very well if at all.
Overall this is a fun toy but only 3 stars until improvements are made.
